What Patrick said. Now, if I could just keep from getting several links to the same LH/Ars articles, I'd be a happy camper. ;)

Well, I see zero change after converting to Google. Very welcome change, in my opinion. And for all those complaining about Facebook's security (or lack thereof), do you have a FB account? Why? And you don't HAVE to use Facebook.

VOTE: Sennheiser PC 150/151/360/361—as long as it has a USB connector. That way, you get the advantage of being able to use a headset AND speakers, at the same time, and you don't have music overriding your game or vice versa.

I don't pay for SMS (although I do have Google Voice if I need/want to text someone), and yes, I still use Skype chat, Google chat, and Trillian to converse with friends. If nothing else, it's still a LOT easier to use a real keyboard for text chat instead of a phone.

I shrunk my OS X partition on my MBA to 40GB, and expanded my Boot Camp partition to 80. My iMac is my OS X machine; my MBA is my Windows machine. Couldn't be happier.

Here's the beauty of it: You don't have to be confronted with Metro "all the time." In fact, it's pretty easy not to see Metro at all, once you get past login. Simply pin "Computer" to the taskbar. Ditto anything else you use a lot—or create a bunch of shortcuts on the desktop, and put 'em in a folder if you like.

Or the Windows key (Command on a Mac), or the Enter key. I'm not sure, but may be the Any key would work—I'll have to check that out!

I'm not at all surprised the Galaxy Nexus placed so high: It's the best (only?) 4G phone on the biggest network (Verizon). Those who have it, love it; those who don't, want it.

Can't wait to see the results of this one. I put, simply, "Droid X," but it's not that simple: I'm on Verizon, which has only updated the DX to 2.2, but I'm running 2.3 via Liberty 3.0. It'll be a lot easier in a month: I'll have the Galaxy Nexus.

Whit, how do you use Windows on your MBA? In a VM via Boot Camp or Parallels/VMWare, or have you figured out how to install it natively? (How much RAM in your Air?)

I'm afraid you've nailed it. :( Naturally, I use two monitors, and it really irks me when even notification popups can't be defaulted to Monitor 2. Uhh...see my comment above re: power users. I guess we should be thankful dual-monitor capability is still in the operating system.

I'm afraid Apple doesn't really understand there are OS X power users: everyone's the same on OS X/iOS. I believe Cupertino's view is power users only use Windows. (I feel your pain, by the way, as a former Windows power user, and now just one of the "Apple faithful"—only not really.)

Well, DoubleTwist is free; iSyncr is $3. Since I already have DT, that's why I'm still using it (although, I tend to use my iPod for music, anyway).

Thanks for making my point a bit more eloquently, although I still think most missed the basic thrust, which was to point out the hypocrisy for calling out Lifehacker for not going black—by individuals who refused to "go black" themselves.

Then perhaps you should have mentioned that in the article, if for no other reason than DoubleTwist has a pretty sizable user base.

I have no problems whatsoever with 2.8, at least for computer-to-computer voice chat. I don't use Skype for telephony.

I have no problem with any entity that chooses to go black today, or any that choose not to. I DO have a problem, though, with self-righteous trolls who are taking sites (such as LH) to task for electing to remain available today. My question to those trolls is, "What the hell are YOU doing on the Internet today?

But is it SMALLER? Until Skype reduces the desktop footprint, I'm really not at all interested. Anything larger than what is in Skype 2.8 is too big.

To my mind, a tech-friendly airport is one that has FREE Wifi in the boarding areas, such as Tampa (TPA) and Rapid City Regional (RAP).

So how, exactly, does this app communicate to the companies you boycott that you are, in fact, boycotting them? Because if it doesn't do that, it's pretty useless.
