It’s definitely gone up since I moved here but hey, that urban renewal gentrification bullshit is great, right?

I had to live on the border of PGH and Wilkinsburg to be able to afford to live alone. I had looked at apartments in Lawrenceville when I was first moving to the area but I knew, with how high the rent was starting to get there and Bloomfield (where I also looked), I would be priced out the next year. It was

In 2013 I was making 28K a year and lived somewhat comfortably in a one bedroom in the Bellevue/Avalon area, where my rent was slightly above $500 a month. I did look at a studio that was $395 a month, and Bellevue is about 10 minutes north from downtown (and really nice!). I’m not sure about what it is now, but if

Some parts are high, some parts aren’t. I rent in the suburbs for a place that isn’t totally falling apart, and pay $800 for a small 1-bedroom. I’d like to live in one of the hip neighborhoods (ala Lawrenceville, Greenfield, Shadyside) but I am not down with street parking.

THANK YOU for this post. As someone who grew up poor, shopping at Walmart in a poor town, who honestly still has to shop there, I get really tired of the well-off “activists” who decry those who shop there as either people unconcerned with social issues or destitute waifs who need to be pitied.

“...refuge for people who have completely and utterly given up.”

Ah the luxury of having never bought an item from Walmart. You obviously have never lived in a small town with poor parents, and the only place for 30 miles is a Walmart. In rural areas, it’s a necessity.

I love Dunst as an actress, so no disrespect here, but I thought she did show signs of her age in Hidden Figures. She seems to take the natural approach to aging. :)

Yes, the shoes! Here in Canada their shoes are running over $300 a pair. They must be insane to think people will pay that for JCrew footwear

OMG - So I don’t know what I was thinking one day but I saw these cute flats at J. Crew. I tried them on and liked them. I didn’t know the price until I was at the register. I lost it. I actually yelled - what the what fuck. They were so cheap. I get better quality at Marshalls. My husband had to calm me down.

Yep. Neermind their whole “Collection”...well, collection. Some of those pieces were thousands of dollars. Give me a break.

As much as it sickens me everytime I’m reminded white people put Trump in the White House, I will say that the only silver lining to Clinton not getting elected is Clinton not getting elected.

Jezebel, ignore this.

Nars Pure Radiant! Never streaky, and the perfect balance of moisture without being too oily. And I say that as a person with olive skin which is typically not very foundation-friendly.

So it isn’t the gate agent, but the policy that’s blatantly sexist.

Why was she doing it alone for 6 weeks before you understood that? No parent should have to do it all alone. I exclusively breastfeed but that means my husband has to do the diapers and get up at 6 once she won’t sleep anymore even after being fed so I can catch up. Fair distribution of labor keeps people sane. And

Really?

So basically you were leaving your wife who was recovering from childbirth and also producing breastmilk to calm the baby every night while you slept? No wonder she was losing her mind.

I assume your wife was the one who gestated and birthed the baby, so she was dealing with sleep-deprivation on top of the intense physical exhaustion that’s part of post-partum recovery? That might be more to do with it than you just being better at coping with sleep-deprivation.

I’m not a parent, so maybe I’m missing something, but why doesn’t she pump some milk and make the dad feed the kid at 1 am?
