In addition to my other comment, I don't see why you'd want your Pi to be your access point. You can get a much better access point elsewhere, use the Pi as an ad-blocking DNS server only and then you can use the service for wired and wi-fi connections.

A less drastic alternative is to disable most push notifications and then bury all apps in folders. It also really pretty. This makes getting distracted harder because you can't see any of the apps very easily. But if you need something, you can always use Spotlight to search because your apps are still installed.
