So basically women who live in rural places have a harder time getting to abortion services? Given that people in rural places have a harder time getting any sort of service, that's hardly surprising.

Whew. I was worried this was a farewell post. I'm glad to hear that it is not. That said, Usenet battles are still the best. :-)

In the long run, stock prices reflect expectations of future profits, discounted over time. If Apple's performance does not match expectations, then it makes perfect sense that its stock price would fall. That does not mean Apple is a bad company or that $54.1 billion in revenue is unimpressive. Instead it means

Off topic, but related: Every time I see a scene of The Postman posted on this site, it reminds me how sad I am that the move did not live up to the awesomeness that was the book.

I think it all depends. I rarely take pictures of my food, BUT there are circumstances when it makes sense. I had a delicious swordfish salad in Piran, Slovenia last July and I took a picture to memorialize it forever. I still look at that photo sometimes and let my mouth water at the memory. No regrets.

Don't let Jezebel see that you used a picture of a woman, with curlers, ironing and sorting socks for the cover of the article. I can only imagine the reaction.

For once, Sam Biddle is partially correct about a political issue. Truthfully, King probably wouldn't put his stamp of approval on a set of military weapons. But, I have no doubt that he would approve of the high level of integration in America's military. If you read the original source (something that Gizmodo

I just took a look at your blog. I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing it.

Copyright will only sort itself out when policy-makers decide what it's for. From a static economic perspective, once a work gets created, the efficient price for the work is its marginal cost. In the case of digital media, that's close to zero. However, from a dynamic perspective, there is value to creativity and

I should add that I WOULD say that FF VIII was the beginning of the end, but FF IX redeemed the series, briefly.

I played Final Fantasies 4-10 (and beat most of them!). I have to target the downfall of the series as FF 10. It was fun in and of itself, but unlike other entries in the series, it did not leave me wanting more. After beating it, I turned off my Playstation 2 and never really looked back.

It's probably impossible to find at this point, but there were some old Prince Valiant comics where Val worked with a man who was one of the "last Neanderthals." It was an interesting idea, though a bit strange in an Arthurian adventure comic.

I confess that I haven't been watching this show (though I've read the first three books). But this teaser trailer has left me with a question. Does the show use footage of real historical landmarks? Or do they only do this for trailers? I ask because right at about 0:04 I can pretty clearly see Venice complete

Were you thinking of Valletta specifically?

My deepest concern about self driving cars is that they might be a little TOO safe. Imagine we overcome the hurdles outlined in this article and that self-driving cars prove to be safer than normal human drivers. Maybe the inherent riskiness of human drivers will cause insurance for human drivers to become too

Didn't they assert something like this in Jurassic Park the movie? If I recall it correctly, the dinosaur cloners kept dinosaur Y chromosomes (or whatever the equivalent is in dinosaurs) from expressing themselves; this had the effect of rendering all the dinosaurs female. BUT LIFE FOUND A WAY.

I'm curious. Are you on Intel's 3000 chip or its 4000?

I spent about two months in Italy and I always wondered why there seemed to be two different plug sizes in the apartment I lived in. Now I know. Thanks Gizmodo.
