Its also something I’ve heard old people use here in Scotland. Usually along the lines of “see you Sonny Jim, you’ll get a clip roon the ear if ye gimme any mare o get lip.”
At this point I'm pro-flags for the QB. These rules to try to protect them are nonsensical, let's just give up the pretense all together. Plus, it paves the way for flags for everyone, which is probably the only way to make football safe for the brain.
I’m thinking the youngsters don’t know what “starch” is. I think that’s where the disconnect is.

“a defensive player must not unnecessarily or violently throw [the quarterback] down and land on top of him with all or most of the defender’s weight.” This year, the word “and” in that sentence was replaced with “or,” which is a rather significant change.

List of people who are allowed to wear kangol hats:
basketball isn’t a contact sport, obviously. if it is no longer legal to tackle the quarterback, just make it 2 hand touch. or put a flag on their belt. players should not have to alter physics to bring down a qb.
At 37, I'm feeling pretty good about my chances.
The penalty for low blows is Tom Brady’s fault.
The penalty for full weight on the QB is Aaron Rodger’s fault.
The penalty for bad dick picks is Brett Favre’s fault.

Your top GIF makes it perfectly clear why this wasn’t a penalty. The defender made a clear effort to catch his body weight with both arms and his right foot.
Now this I can get behind. I think the future of the sport is every player attached to wires in the rafters flying around hundreds of feet in the air.
Proper tackling techniques across the league:
I don’t understand why everyone is having such a hard time avoiding this penalty. It’s really a simple 5-step process for sound, form tackling:
CBS needs to go to jail for the crime of Bruce Arians and Greg Gumbel.
Neil Everett and Linda Cohn shit on this rule on SportsCenter the other night after a piece about this subject (Neil: “Just put flags on the quarterback” Linda: “I know, really”), so I expect the cronies of Uncle Roger to give ESPN a ring and remind them that the Monday Night slate can always be booked worse for them.
