You add an additional qualifier. “Overall”.

I don’t think you can or should attempt to define a game genre by plot elements.

“Immersion” does not come from realism. Immersion comes from consistency. You can become immersed in completely unrealistic and unbelievable fantasy worlds. I’d argue that the further from realism, the more interesting the immersion goes.

The size of the galaxy makes everything an individual does a drop in an ocean. The RNG has greater impact on the game world than a player’s actions. With unseen players making unseen changes all around you, it’s impossible to see what actions are caused and what is entropy.

You’re dealing with a whole lot of subjective stuff when it comes to “worth it”.
