The genre isn’t defined because a new term is unnecessary.
The genre isn’t defined because a new term is unnecessary.
What is the purpose of defining the genre if not to understand what sort of game it is?
You add an additional qualifier. “Overall”.
I don’t think you can or should attempt to define a game genre by plot elements.
“Immersion” does not come from realism. Immersion comes from consistency. You can become immersed in completely unrealistic and unbelievable fantasy worlds. I’d argue that the further from realism, the more interesting the immersion goes.
The size of the galaxy makes everything an individual does a drop in an ocean. The RNG has greater impact on the game world than a player’s actions. With unseen players making unseen changes all around you, it’s impossible to see what actions are caused and what is entropy.
You’re dealing with a whole lot of subjective stuff when it comes to “worth it”.
Elite Dangerous suffers from too many places. The entire galaxy feels like white noise. Exploration is just an RNG. Everything else, it doesn’t really matter where you are playing, because you could be playing in hundreds or thousands of other places for functionally identical gameplay. There isn’t any story reason to…
Until you’ve built a complex holographic system on a private island, I’m not gonna waste my time with this.
ASICs are more efficient at hashing than a GPU. This means that they will cost less electricity and generate less heat than an equal amount of work with a GPU. If you are using an ASIC mining operation, it will require LESS cooling and LESS energy than a comparable operation mining with GPUs.
Window ACs aren’t designed to operate below the minimum Thermostat value. The thermostat isn’t the limiting factor. It is the operational characteristics of the AC. If the AC coils get too cold, then you can get moisture freezing on the coils, blocking air flow, causing the coils to get even colder, and freezing even…
It is important to note that if you buy an Air conditioner that is too big for the room you’re in, it will cost much more electricity to run than one which is too small.
You’ve activated my Trap Card!
Except the part where people on foot have guns that do more damage than some ship mounted weapons. And the people have shields as strong some small ships... and you can’t target people in your ship... and touching a person in a moving ship causes them to die immediately... and you can literally punch a ship to death.
The FPS isn’t integrated into the rest of the game. It is basically a separate game that uses the same maps.
I’m a bit concerned about his apology. He was apologizing for performance issues.
No, only the ones that reach certain thresholds.
Was listening to NPR this morning, and they had a story about churches going back to normal. The piece ended the following:
I don’t understand how your example demonstrates a gap in our technical capabilities... It is a business practice that banking transactions be processed during business hours, because actual human beings screen those transactions for fraud. It is a trade-off which is made to secure a transaction.
You see... you say this, but I still disagree.
