Seeing the vapor coming off of it, I’m going to agree.

I’ve always enjoyed a good argument of semantics on the internet.

No, nothing at all. Did you read my other comments? We live in a free country where we are guaranteed the right to freedom of expression. Self Censorship IS a way to express that freedom.

I am not sure what sort of response you are expecting... I disagreed and I explained why I disagree and you persist in simply stating that my opinion is not correct without any explanation for why you believe that to be true.

Yes, Self Censorship.

I disagree. Censorship happens all over the place. It happens in media, it happens in the home, it happens in the workplace. I’ve censored the opinions of my co-workers for work related reasons in the past. I’ve had my opinions censored for the same reasons. I have been censored at school when I wore a t-shirt which

Valve doesn’t have a Steam Backlog problem. Gamers have a Steam Backlog problem. Valve is selling games at a rate which exceeds players ability to play them. That sounds like the opposite of a problem for Valve.

It’s called “Self Censorship”

It is censorship. Anytime you suppress potentially objectionable content, it is censorship. You are confusing censorship with “Freedom of Speech” which says that a government cannot stifle your ability to communicate your opinions and ideas.

My first thought when I heard this is “Man destroys all of his property when ordered to equally distribute it with former spouse”

Etsy is really gonna regret banning people who could curse them...

I discussed the disconnect between “Indie” as a medium and “Indie” as a distribution model. I suppose a publisher who specialized in “Indie” (as a medium) games, could be considered an “Indie Publisher”, just the same way as a music publisher who only published a single genre of music would be considered a “Genre

I don’t mind the interim click, but the middle-man needs to add some value to the process. A brief blurb that sounds like it was copy-pasted from the youtube description isn’t gonna cut it.

Devolver is a publisher, not a development studio. Technically speaking, anything they publish is not “indie” because the developer isn’t independent, they have a publisher backing them.

I was initially very excited for the new controller. I’m a PC gamer and I’ve been using 360 controllers for some time. I was just about ready to buy an xbone controller, then they announced the new controller, then they announced the wireless dongle, and now this. I was super excited with throwing my money at MS.

I’m glad that it could end in a civil manner. I appreciated the discussion.

The lack of evidence is why I am refuting the claim. All you have to show for your argument is some cherry picked anecdotal evidence. I imagine if this was the epidemic that you are making it out to be, hundreds of indie devs would be coming out of the woodwork to share similar stories, yet all I hear are crickets.

How can you say “clearly” when you have a very limited dataset of anecdotal evidence that seems to be pretty cherry picked?

Let’s try to keep this civil. The sales numbers presented are anecdotal. With more time and more reports on sales/returns, we will be able to get a real idea of whether it helps or hurts.

I feel that returns are NOT harmful to the industry. Reducing the “risk” of purchasing a bad game allows consumers the ability to explore more freely and discover first hand whether a game is good or bad. With reduced risk, consumers are more willing to make purchases. I can’t count how many times I’ve passed over a
