I don't know what's with the dismissal of physical violence, and I know we don't want to get into a quantification argument about what level of physical abuse is worse than rape, but it seems like most people don't want to discuss that aspect of your comment.

It can't just be that, though, because rape is just as severe (I would imagine) for people who take consensual sex very lightly as it is for people who are much more sexually... conservative?
