You’ve marched right on to the bargaining stage, then? I’m still grappling with denial.

Thank you! I appreciate the solidarity. :)

Oh god! The nightmare extends beyond the young white boys? There goes the light at the end of the tunnel.

High school is actual hell, and don’t let anyone tell you different. You’re stuck with all those people arbitrarily. In college (especially after the first year of general ed. classes), you’ll meet people who share

So, the poll manager for each precinct is responsible for keeping track of the time. At 7:00 (or whatever closing time is in that precinct), the manager announces it. It goes something like, “The time is 7:00, and the polls are now closed. If you are in line, you will be allowed to vote.” In the event of a line out

Hang in there! You’ll find your tribe in college (and here, too, of course!). Young white males (my son included) have given me so many ulcers this year with their moaning and bro’ing.

Are you 16, or a grown-ass man? If the former, then rest assured you’re still exploring and testing your ideals. If you are a grown-ass man spouting navel-gazing drivel, then I have nothing for you but side eye.

You are, as has been exhaustively covered in this thread. :D The allegation, as described in the article, is that people were admitted to the polling location after closing time. However, it seems the Trump goons were also getting salty about the polling place remaining open to accommodate the voters who were already

This is the thesaurus we’ve been waiting for. So many majestic synonyms. Well done, Jezebel!

Kudos to your wife for helping keep the election running smoothly! I think every state allows voters in line at the time of closing to vote, and it’s bewildering that a campaign would try to allege any impropriety from that angle.

I’m really bemused by that individual’s fired-up comments! I thought fair and legal elections were one of those things we could all agree on, like Donatello being the best Ninja Turtle, but no. Citizens for Election Irregularities—who knew!

That’s good judging.

Fantastic! That was a great riposte about the poll workers’ names.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Awesome news.

Oh no, dear, you mistake me. I did the right thing. I DON’T feel bad about what I did, but it was a difficult thing to do. Sometimes doing the right thing is hard. That’s life.

I respect your opinion, as well, but it wasn’t just the one guy. While he was crying on the curb, a few more stragglers rolled in, and they had to be told ‘no,’ as well. The line is arbitrary, but it’s there, and we all have to live with it. I’m not cut out for poll work, either. I did several midterms and local

Good information! The “no rules on maximum duration for how long a polling place can be open for early voting” is especially pertinent. If that’s the case, then Trump can go fuck his lawsuit right in the ear.

Thanks! Having to potentially agree with him about anything today is giving me heartburn, but there it is.

I wanted to. I wanted to. I wanted to. He begged. He pointed at the people standing in line and asked why they could vote and he couldn’t (they were there before 7:00). It was SO HARD. But transparent and legal elections are the bedrock of our democracy, which means we all have to follow the rules, even when it breaks

Absolutely not! I hope that turns out to be the case, that they were already in line when the polls closed.

You are 100% correct! Starting at about 6:00 tonight, I’ll begin my usual mother henning, and posting to remind everyone to stay in line, even if the polls are “closed.” The allegation claims there was post-closing admission, though, which would be the problem.
