Certainly! If that’s the case, then they had every right to be there, stay in line, and vote. If—IF—the allegation of admitting voters after the poll had been announced closed for the day was substantiated, though, that would be a problem.

I ... kind ... of ... don’t ... think ... he’s ... totally .... wrong ... ?

Oh god, that was painful to type.

Now, my state doesn’t have early voting, so I’m not totally sure how lax or tight it’s run in comparison to the day-of voting, but I have been a poll worker, and the hardest—THE HARDEST—thing I’ve ever had to

Did Deadspin hire my 16-year old son and his friends without my knowledge? Are teens secretly professional bloggers these days? Is this the parental worry of this brave new world?

I mean... that must be it, right? Grown ass men wouldn’t put such drivel right out there for anyone to see.

That was my childhood, too. I learned about HRC by hearing Rush Limbaugh call her a feminazi. I was taught to hate her because she didn’t “know her place” as First Lady.

Thankfully, my grandmother (who died in 2014 at 92 years old) set me straight. She—the woman I adored more than anyone else in the world—told me in

Great suggestion. Thank you!

Thank you so much for the link, and for your email. I may be in touch!

Thank you for that suggestion! I’ll see what I can find around here.

Got it and dismissed it to clear it away. Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, there’s no private messaging system on Kinja (we used to have that back in the creaky old days of Gawker Media). If you don’t mind posting your email, I’ll jot it down and you can delete your comment.

I don’t personally know any trans people, so if you don’t mind, I’d be very grateful to have someone to

Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out. I’m feeling a little overwhelmed and alone today. Thank you, too, for the links. I’m going to look over them and will hopefully have some good information to talk to my child about when he gets home from school.

Topically adjacent, I’m looking for suggestions from Jezzies in the Know for books or videos aimed at adolescents about gender identity, what it means to be trans, what transitioning is, etc. Anything in that wheelhouse.

While you’re at it, if you have suggestions for resources for parents of a newly-out, maybe trans,

Isn’t that the slogan of every Libertarian candidate ever?

What a rough memory! Those moments were the worst. I regularly bled through a super plus tampon, and a pad, and my clothes. Once right onto the gym bleachers during a pep rally. Teen periods are EVIL.

Oh no! Bless your heart (meant in the sincere Southern way, not the smarmy one). For some reason, it never even occurred to me to call my mom to bring me fresh clothes. I would have been calling every day during my period.

An IUD helped control (though no stop entirely) my unruly periods for a good long while. I hope it’ll work out for you, too. Good luck landing that job!

I frequently bled through my clothes in high school. It was mortifying! I had several dedicated flannel shirts for tying around my waist, dark jeans, and always checked my seat when I got up (yes, it was that bad). If a male teacher had said anything to me I would have burst into tears, and then flames, and then died.

He wins the moderator derby in my book.

I just ... look. I’m happy to believe almost anything about Donny, and it surprises me not one whit that his offspring have drunk deep at his teat of horrors, but “I heard her say it at a bar, like, ten years ago” is not precisely damning evidence. Anyone’s recollection of a group conversation in a bar a decade ago is

Even a year as epically evil as 2016 has to take a breather and dial it in every once in a while, you know?

Oh, man! That’s the worst. I’ve got Shady Pete: Live at the Greater Winston-Salem Reptile Show on laserdisc. The reverb he gets inside that Shriner center is amaaaaaaze. I’ll copy you one on my Betamax if you want. :)
