There's only one Durango that tickles my fancy.

Huh. Since it's not soldered, I guess you could very easily remove the heat spreader and attach an entirely custom cooler to it. Of course, that's a good way to end up with one dead CPU.

If I got a 2600k and GTX 670, I'd definitely OC both of them. Every bit of processor power helps, as I mentioned in my first post (Digital Audio Workstations, Video Editing, 2D Image Manipulators, 3D Modeling, et cetera).

I thought THQ would go away if I gave them a dollar.

These look nice:

Yes, I know the video card's falling behind, but it can't be helped, since the mobo's an ancient PCIe 1.0 hunk of junk that with a BIOS that doesn't recognize anything newer than that. It literally won't POST with any of the more recent cards. All you get is a black screen.

This is the exact model of PSU that I have in my rig:

Tried that quite a while back. About '09 or so, I stuffed an HD 5770 into it, thinking I was in for a cheap upgrade. I was wrong. Wouldn't POST. Black screen.

"If you're not doing a lot of video encoding, the Ivy Bridge i7 is a waste of money and runs pretty toasty, due to Intel skimping on the thermal material that connects the CPU die to the heatspreader."

My loss of faith in AMD has less to do with the hardware (it's still pretty good stuff, for the price) and more to do with the driver support. That, and AMD video cards don't really like post-processing effects like Boris Vorontsov's ENBSeries.

You might be right about that. An OCed 670 is a beast of a card:

The Core i7-2600K that I was planning on putting in it before the Core i7-3770 came out is only $20 cheaper, or thereabouts. I hear that the Ivy Bridge chips tend to have overheating issues when you OC them, but give you some small performance and efficiency gains overall when compared to Sandy Bridge (as long as you

Oh, they came out with a new one? I guess I have to update my list, then. It's cheaper, so that's a plus. Doesn't look nearly as cool though, but looks aren't really a priority for me. When I shop around for a mobo, there are only four things that are important: Performance, Stability, Layout and DOA rate. When I

That's true, but one thing I don't get is why people have this idea that console and PC fandoms have to be mutually-exclusive. I've got every sixth and seventh-gen console sitting on a rack to my right. I also have a gaming PC that I DIY-built myself. You won't see me arguing about which of those two worlds is more

I'm already there, technically speaking. Current rig is as follows:

Nothing will ever beat the sheer badassery of Andrew "Frosty" Harrison from AvP2. Nothing. Dude killed his way through an entire Xenomorph hive, fucked up a Yautja, a Predalien, and even a goddamned Queen. He is death incarnate. It is, in fact, quite possible that Chuck Norris killed him many years before the events

But that gesture is when you put your thumbs to your ears, fingers spread. The thumb to the nose is an entirely different gesture.

I thought I'd get to see it up here in the Pacific Northwest, but it's overcast. Overcast everywhere. For hundreds of miles in all directions.

I've seen this gesture before plenty of times, but never heard the name. It's a two-handed variation of the Queen Anne's Fan/Cock-a-snook with the little finger on the right hand touching the thumb of the left, but the extended tongue and the unfortunate angle of the camera conspire to make it look like something...
