Ah yes, I bought a 1987 Comanche a few years ago for $800. Obviously, it was in significantly worse condition, but it ran and drove (just). For some reason, a previous owner swapped out the original AMC I4 for the unspeakably bad, GM-sourced V6; it was like driving a tractor. I fixed a few things on it, gave it a…
H/T to the lede photo - I took Taggart’s for driving school back in ~2003! One of my classmates crashed the “Taggartmobile” (early 90s Cavalier if I’m not mistaken). Good times.
I might be in the minority here, but I currently own an ‘07 9-5 with the 5-speed, and it honestly feels like a transmission out of an old pickup truck. Long throws, not terribly smooth, but hearty nonetheless. If I had to do it again, I might forego the manual.

Ignoring everything else: where are these great Toyotas you speak of?
1991 Euro MB 300TD, 5-speed. I seriously hesitated to post this, because I’m looking for a sub-10K car to replace my hopefully-soon-to-be-bought-back TDI wagon. This is a French model, Florida titled, and it’s clean as f**k. Cruise in luxury, style, and efficiency in this w124-based wagon, with practicality to boot.…
