For all I know, "Abilene Clark" could've been fleshed out in the movie (I haven't, nor will I ever, see it), the book portrayed her as nothing more than a simple Mammy type whose sole purpose was to soothe the white main character's guilt. If the movie version of that character was as trifling as the book version…

I remember hearing about the Tichina Arnold movie years ago and got the impression that it was supposed to get a (limited) theatrical release. Then...nothing. Last I heard of it, it was airing on TV One, but I hadn't gotten to set it on my DVR on time to record it.
