Back in the day it was the exception to the rule and you still had the majority of cars that still looked good. Nowadays it's the rule and to the detriment of styling.

it actually doesn't have to add nearly that much. An ls2 is very light and compact for a v8. I've read about miata swaps gaining less than 100 pounds.
