My point still applies to those who say "donate before year-end to save taxes" all the time. It makes no sense to do so unless you really believe in a cause (in which case you likely aren't thinking of tax savings). If you're doing it for tax savings, you're losing money.

But as someone mentioned below, you are technically committing tax fraud.

How are you getting paid to donate? You save let's say 30% at most on your tax bill. 30% of the 4k you donate. You are still out 70% of 4k.
