Well, Orange One has professed repeatedly that he loves the ignorant. He loves them because they are easy to brainwash, manipulate and control. Not an ounce of critical thinking in that bunch.

Truly terrifying because I live alone as well, and my cats offer no protection. It’s also a cautionary tale for women to switch up their routine.

I kinda wondered if the old lady was lonely and conjured up a bunch of creepy spirits to keep her company.

Terrifying! Perhaps the hunter was a good spirit sent to warn you of the evils of the place. EEK!

Yours is super creepy. I’ve read other stories of a “thing” that pretends to be a child to lure unsuspecting humans into the woods. The fact that the voice never got closer seems like it was trying to disorient him and catch him off guard.

Time slip stories are my favorite. For some reason, this story reminds me of Back to the Future when Marty dressed up as an alien to scare his dad into inviting his mom to the dance. Also an unexpected visitor from the future.
There was an epic time slip story on here a few years ago about a boyfriend who got dropped

I must comment on the MST3K reference because Tom Servo is my hero. Obviously.

Thanks! I did graphically what ProudHamberica did in prose. I hope more people will play.

Thank you! I had so much fun putting it together. I’ve been a fan of scary stories since the Gawker days (now there’s a ghost for you!)

Awesome! Thanks so much for playing! I wish more people could see it, so I’ll post it again for the next round of stories.

Thank you! I’ve been reading these stories since they started on Gawker, and it’s the one thing I look forward to in the fall. I might try again to share it for the next round of stories.

Damn! This is even more proof that sinister people are scarier than anything paranormal. Plus animal abusers usually move on to killing fellow humans. And also, how terrifying that this kid had plans to shoot up his school.

YIKES! Stories about haunted forests are intriguing and super scary how they seem to have a life of their own and their own energy. Good thing these trees wanted to keep you out rather than draw you in. A few years ago, there was a story about cousins hiking deep into the forest and something trying to draw them in as

That’s hella creepy. In hindsight, do you think those strange people were sprits or something not of this world?

PS I am a like-minded snarky creative person, and I created a custom scary stories bingo card that would be hilarious for this year’s stories but I’m forever banished in gray space as I read much, comment infrequently. Can you help a gal out and make this bingo card visible so it can be shared? For now, my creative

Can you help a gal out? I read every single scary story every year, since the beginning. This year I felt moved to create a Jezebel Scary Stories bingo card for our friends at home to play along (real life job is snarky graphic designer). I’m a little nobody banished to the grays forever. If you think it is worth

Hella creepy that a murderer was in your midst. I heard a detailed story about this hall monitor on the Risk podcast. The storyteller is a former student who, along with her geeky friends, were “tight” with the hall monitors. It’s super creepy and led me to go look up the news articles on this murderer:

Brilliant!!! Finally a fiction story here that’s worth reading.

Maybe one of those terrifying black-eyed children???? EEEKKK!

You can search for it on a podcast app (I use Apple) and find free episodes. Also google Spooked for shows you can listen for free online thru WNYC radio. The last couple seasons, though, are only available from the paid app Luminary, which I think was around $8 a month. I got it fall and then canceled after I
