It would be pretty cool if they made smaller displacement V12's with an electric assist. A 3.5 L engine would be about the right size. I love the sound of small engines with lots of cylinders.

In my Subaru, if I leave the lights on, they turn off when the engine is turned off. In winter, when it is dark in the morning and the evening, I never turn the switch off. I don’t know why all cars don’t have that. There is almost never a reason the have the lights on but the engine off.

I kind of wish the plural of ‘roof’ were ‘rooves’. 

I think, if I were the one to define things, that paint application and panel gaps would be considered ‘fit and finish’; turn signals, switches would be ‘material quality’; how long those things last would be ‘durability’. Consumer Reports really ought to break their data down a little bit more for their rankings.

Is the 12v battery not a normal, off the shelf one? I know it controls door locks, are there any other systems that are on that battery. I assume that it is recharged from the main battery.

You could also attach a small electric generator to that engine and convert excess rotational force into current to charge the battery.
