Wow you mean the president of nintendo was playing a nintendo device at a major video game conference where other people could see him? Yeah that really shows how much he loved nintendo, the company he worked for.

The story you just said isn’t getting play was the top story on NPR this morning. But nice try.

Next time we could all do well to wait until facts come out before rushing to judgement. Facts are important.

“I would never be brave enough to do what Jussie did. He put his personal freedom at stake and shined a light into some dark corners that need cleaning. In a way, I’m proud of him. Because it doesn’t necessarily matter that this event didn’t happen. It matters that it could happen. That’s the real issue here. So good

Well, it didn’t take long for his apologists to slither out into the light.

The Root (and its Kinja-ing readership) fucking loved him up until the moment it was too obvious to ignore this was probably a hoax. And this event was perpetrated by one person, sure, but a large group of people ate it up, and fed into it, and used it to reinforce whatever they believed.

I want everybody who was defending him… To keep that same energy. This is why you don’t immediately believe victims or their accusers. Everything should be taken with a measured approach… And he should go to jail for as long as the potential crime dictated...

“Pro-Trump acolytes and conservative media have jumped all over this case because Smollett confirmed that the attackers called him a “nigger” and “faggot” and said “This is MAGA country” while beating him.”

There are thousands of examples of Grand Juries indicting people of All races, colors and creeds for making False police reports and statements. You can easily find examples for yourself. Most of the prosecturs in Chicago who recommended a Grand Jury investigation, including Cheif Prsecutor Kimberly Fox - are black.

“It feels like if I had said it was a Muslim, or a Mexican, or someone black, I feel like the doubters would have supported me much more, a lot more.”

I see you whipped out the redneck insult book your Auntie Maxine gave ya. Keep flipping pages Toby, I’m sure you’ll find a good one hidden in there somewhere.

You wanted to believe him because you hate white people

The virtue of victimhood.

At least you admit that facts don’t matter. And, by the way, the two people who were arrested are black and one was an extra. His story is a lie.

So if it works out that it was in fact a hoax, would it still be Racism?

You know what really discourages victims from coming forward? Blatantly fake stories like this that get mainstream attention because complete idiots blindly believe any ridiculous story that fits their narrative. Thanks to your ilk, the stories of fake victims have become so prevalent that real ones are less likely to

It’s not racism. Not everything can or should be explained according to a contrived narrative. Chicagoans and anyone who knows Chicago, and I lived in that neighborhood for 5 years, felt his story had gaping holes from the onset.

there are clearly people who never believed Smollett from the very beginning. Now, this could be due to an array of things: It could be something personal against him, the disconnect between fighting for black men and fighting for gay rights (and the intersection smack dab in the middle), or simply being swept up

This was one of the dumbest articles I have ever read.  No one intelligent believed Smollett from the start because his story was unbelievable and because it promotes a narrative that both Hollywood and the media have a vested interest in.  Next you don’t have a clue what happened with the reporting from ABC and CBS.

I don’t understand why people point to tax cuts as the reason for the deficit. Even if there was a 0% tax rate for corporations and rich individuals, that would not inherently lead to a deficit. Government spending is what causes the deficit. If our government were even 1/10 as responsible with our money as most
