Although it’s been a couple of years since Boban played for my beloved Pistons, and Detroit wasn’t very good when he was with us, I definitely miss the “Toby and Bobi” show of him and Tobias Harris.

The only playoff game the Lions have won in my lifetime. And I’m 59 years old.
I think if you look closely you can see that he hit the head. It’s not obvious, but I think that is what happened.
Upvoted for user name.
So . . . the refs who called two flagrants weren’t watching the game either?
Although it wasn’t super-clear from the camera angle, the announcers said that he hit the head: “more head than ball,” I think.
Not exactly the same thing, but also Pistons-related. When Detroit won the championship in 2004, Darko M. broke his hand in the celebration.
My Pistons dominated the Raptors during the regular season. In fact, Pistons fans were hoping to get them in the first round. /Narrator: But they didn’t, and they were swept by the Bucks.
And even then, I think they got it wrong (not that it mattered). There was .9 seconds left when Toronto inbounded the ball. Leonard probably did get fouled at some point, but they had him shooting FTs with .9 seconds left. If he had been fouled *before the inbounds pass*, that would explain the lack of any time…
Yeah, I think that’s the under-discussed weird aspect of these finals.
And they had a really loaded bench. Losing a bunch of bench guys from the 2003-04 team is a big reason that group of starters, maybe one of the best in NBA history despite none being a “superstar,” never won another ‘ship.
Yes, plus I don’t think anyone ever argued that the Warriors without Durant AND THOMPSON would be better than the Warriors with both. While I don’t have strong feelings on the subject, I think the argument that a Warriors team without Durant, or more realistically, without Durant but with a couple more decent bench…
I’ll bet.
Yeah, this was at MOST a brouhaha, and probably not even that.
Are you saying *Dumars* was a dirty player? I understand why people say that about Laimbeer, but Joe D. is usually not put in that category.
I assume some unwritten rule of baseball would permit the visiting team, in response, to release wolves, lions, or some other predator?
Yeah, Drummond’s foul was a flagrant, but Thon’s wasn’t at all (as was, correctly, called).
That’s a pretty high ceiling.
OK, but as a fan of the Detroit Lions for many years, I’ve found their attempts to actually play football to be awkward and forced.
The Pistons, from 2003-08, were pretty darn good.
