I see what you're saying, but "ya" is simply a mispronunciation of the word "you", and then an attempt to spell that mispronunciation. When you pronounce "y'all", you say, "ye-all" which corresponds to the correct spelling. You don't pronounce it "ya-uhl" which would correspond to "ya'll".

In every instance I can think of, the apostrophe replaces the letters that are removed in the contraction. It's not about a specific position, it's about notating the abridged letter.
