He's absolutely right. If you don't have the mental aptitude to maintain control over a car without power steering assist at highway speeds (when it is EASIER to control) and pull it over to the side of the road, you need to stop texting, get off the phone, stop talking to your friends in the back, be less…
How about people don't take offense to something so ridiculous? Are we really that weak of a species where calling an inanimate object a name hurts? What happened to having pride in yourself and your own ride? I don't care if you called my ride any number of racial or gender slang words that mean you don't approve.
I would add "lack of expertise" to that list as well. Here in the USA, not all drivers are like we Jalopers. They see driving as a right, not a privilege and they don't think of it as a responsibility to control a 4,500 pound mechanical device. They see it as a place to drink a coffee while picking up the kids, or…
a baseball survives a hit from a bat, but that doesn't mean I'd want to be the baseball.
There's a picture of a truck on the sticker... Doesn't that answer your question?

Yep, the fear-mongering continues. The ambulance chasers are going crazy, and Jalopnik seems to be one of them. Plus, it's the NY Times, so basically if you take the complete opposite of what they print, you'll be way closer to the truth.
I'll go out on a limb here and say that although the disabled airbags may have been directly responsible for the fatality, they did not cause the car to swerve or impact with the tree.
Your article thoroughly confuses me. The Ion swerved into a tree and you're saying that it had nothing to do with the driver being on Xanax, but was due to the fact that the car suddenly lost power, disabling it's airbags?
