A car is a dead machine, it doesn't have the ability to consciously kill, let alone do, anything without influence from the driver or some other force (automatic systems and electronics are a separate topic).

THANK YOU, PonchoIndian!! I really don't know why the authors on this site (along with the ignorant media in general) continue to ignore the facts and simply blame GM. The fact of the matter is that if you do stupid things like drive drunk, unbuckled, while speeding (sometimes twice the limit) with waaay too much

Directly responsible for the deaths of 13 people? No, actually. But did they fall precisely one step short (among thousands) in designing vehicles that did everything humanly possible to prevent owners from their own negligence, ineptitude, and poor driving skills? Yes.

It's got the EcoTec3 which is a Gen V engine (LTx based), the Gen IV stuff was still called "Vortec". That means it's got direct injection, variable valve timing, and the cylinder deactivation (although that isn't new to the Gen V). Surprisingly, the bench seating option is still available for the Suburban.
