How many more times have I been stranded on a bicycle? Surprisingly, not many at all, in more than a quarter century of riding distances up to 100 miles per day.

I was perhaps 16, maybe not. I was drenched, tired, cold, and miserable, sitting at the side of the road, knowing my parents would be driving past shortly. Being well before cell phones, I was wholly reliant on being seen as they traveled separately down to my aunt & uncle’s house.

Saddest? No idea. But could choose from a few, I think.
