No one is looking for a paved road to be an expression of human creativity.

My theory is that no actual human was involved in its conception. One of the muckety-mucks typed into ChatGPT “Give me a unique idea for a super successful kid-friendly multiplayer arena game” and it threw back Splatoon with some words changed. Then they headed off to midjourney and typed “90's extreme sports teens

Square:“We used AI to make a game.

Oh this game was 100% intended to be an NFT platform before that grift collapsed, so of course Squeenix has moved on to the next grift.

It looks like someone just typed “Splatoon Fortnite ArtStation Shooter” into midjourney and this is what it spat out

When the executives behind the games I play choose to employ technology that degrades the experience, steals from artists, devalues human expression, and is purely designed as an excuse to lay off the employees that actually make the games... it does massively impact my experience.

Boy am I sorry to say that you could be right

I’m not bothered by someone doing a spin on another game’s good idea. However, I’m unimpressed by them pretending that wasn’t essentially the pitch to begin with. And I am completely done with them to use AI art in a professional context. Just gross.

Seems like this won’t (or shouldn’t) go anywhere. The two logos are very distinct in style and color scheme, and the full name of Remedy at the bottom of their logo really clinches it. Nobody is buying a Remedy game by accident thinking it’s a Rockstar title, or vice versa.

As a Black consumer, this will be a hard R decision to pick between the two.

Good. Obviously, America as a whole has some troubled relationship with the concept, but not literally every website (or this one in particular) has to feature or be ok with [implied] nudity. There are plenty of sites where nudity is ok and encouraged and that’s great, but on twitch this gives unreasonable

It’s my least favorite anime arc trope. Just feels like the stakes are lowered, even if they’re killing and dying the motivation is what counts to me in a story, and a tournament is almost always just an arbitrary layer between character and personal motivation. Only one that I sort of remember feeling invested in was

Replacing Hayter was especially stupid considering:

He’s a hacker he isn’t a danger.

I'm in the U.K. This still has the unpleasant whiff of money about it.
