So this is actually really interesting for a number of reasons, and my big takeaway is that Valve is starting to realize they can’t just rest on their TI laurels/yannys forever (in fact I would be very surprised if this year’s prize pool surpassed TI7) and are trying to develop the rest of the scene.

I’d imagine there’s probably a lot of legal roadblocks to that, as it would require releasing back-end code that wasn’t cleared for public release - and if any snippets of that code still remain in GW2 (incredibly likely as they’re both on the same engine) it could open up a whole mess of piracy/hacks.
