That was the most depressing news I have read since hearing about the untimely death of Elisabeth Sladen. I have 2 daughters, 14 and 18 who both love DW and SJA, plus my oldest and I are huge Torchwood fans.

Ironically, we're complaining about the complaining. But, hey, they started it!

True. And when you crack open the crunchy shell to expose the gooey center those things are far more disturbing than the Weeping Angels wearing freshly flayed skin of the Silents.

ROFL, I can see it now. "My calculations have determined it is time to...maim...Master." So much for a sonic screwdriver, now he's just sonic screwed.

Getting off to a rocky start and getting better as later episodes air seems to be the order of the day for a lot of sci-fi lately and it usually spells doom for the ratings. I can see a ton of people tuning in for the 2-hour initial airing, then the next episode shows a drop-off and so on until the ratings don't

They'll probably complain that the next episode should've been rated "Arr!"

Perhaps smarter entities than me know the answer to that, I'm just waiting for the Great and Powerful Moffat to deliver all the answers...eventually. There's often a big bad in charge so it wouldn't be unexpected, so with Moffat it probably won't happen. He's like the Spanish Inquisition of Who writers, damn him!

The theme to "Unsolved Mysteries" always sounded like it belonged more to a horror flick with some Freddy Krueger-type villain than a show devoted to helping solve mysteries.

LOL, I had forgotten about that. I think "Beatrice" is/was the precursor to "Mom" in Futurama.

That's probably the case, but I'd love to see a later story where it's revealed that The Silence's plan all along was for them to be driven from Earth. I guess with Moffat I expect some twists that we don't see coming, but since I might've seen this coming it's probably not going to happen that way. That pesky

It definitely wasn't made clear. I guess I just assumed they assumed we would assume that to be the case. Am I being as clear?

Maybe it's already been covered, but for a race known as "The Silence" it seems an odd thing to say, "Silence will fall." Sounds to me like they're predicting their own demise.

Since the Doctor was being held at Area 51 I just assumed the bricks were from some alien tech the military found. Having it all take place at Area 51 makes it easy to just toss in improbable stuff like those bricks.

I just assumed the FBI was chasing them because the Silence told them to. If the Doctor and his bunch started working out ways to remember their encounter with the baddies then it would make sense to have them killed.

Can I come over and watch it with you? I'll make the popcorn. I can make it exactly like they do at the cinemas, only mine costs a few cents per gigantic bucket, not a brazillion dollars!

Absolutely the gravity effects would be devastating. I was merely answering Rufus' question about if it has its own moon by stating it was clearly seen in the trailer.

From personal experience of heavy use beginning in the late 1970s and continuing unabated until about 2004, I quit immediately and the only issues I had to deal with was a strong desire to relapse, but that diminished over a period of about 3 weeks and then it was a non-issue. I was a daily smoker, often staying high

Hah! The first thing I thought when I read, "this new drama is about a teenage girl who wakes up with cat powers." was does she wash her ass with her tongue? I could watch that!

Completely, totally, unequivocally, enthusiastically agree. It's close enough to genre and it so damned good that it deserves to be mentioned in any TV list on any site. I can't fucking wait for it to return.

Nah, accidental massive release of an experimental hallucinogenic by the military. By the end of the film they'll be arguing with toasters, marrying cats and trying to catch butterflies that aren't there.
