You realize you can just not use the mode and it won’t affect you at all? I never get outrage about having options.

Maybe because it isn’t an adaptation?  It’s literally set in the same universe as the games but takes place after all of the events in different locations from the events. This is stated in the article.

I was like: What? That is clearly Mario Kart and not gone home. I think only the tweet really clarifies that it is supposed to be a Nintendo cartridge in the game Gone home and not Gone Home on a cartridge.

That’s the thing - it shouldn’t be a risk at all. These are some ridiculous gymnastics to go through to justify Steam selling malware on their platform because they don’t want to perform quality assurance.
