It makes zero sense. The ad is a composite of ideas and imagery, the idea would not get lost to somehow imply that it could be 'anyone' male/female/friend/teacher/religious person and still deliver the same message. I don't think it was done on purpose and they can certainly edit the ad and make some adjustments.

What if you met a man and decided to marry a man (you even asked, instead of him) that you KNOW does not think of you in any which, way or form as property. Would it matter then? So it's something he would be asking of you, to take his name - a gift of sorts. Just wondering is all.

It would be noble if a husband did that and I certainly wouldn't look down on a man that did (actually know one who did). However, 'mandom' can be a finicky place - most men might be weary of such a thing. What their friends might think, etc. Also, as mentioned, a man's last name is often more than just that. I bet
