The text-based MMOs of Gemstone IV and Dragonrealms have had permanent death since their inception (back in the early/mid 90s). There were methods to prevent perma-death, generally by currying favor with one of the in-game deities who would guard your soul from crossing over in exchange for tribute, or by having a

@Barcini: Guessing it was supposed to be "Japan boasts". But maybe they're "boat"ing it over to other countries, ie exporting! Probably not though.

Dammit, I went back and tried to edit the previous comment a dozen times to put in a spoiler warning, but it wouldn't let me. I had put in SPOILER but I put triangle brackets around it which I guess the comment parser decided meant to make it invisible. Very sorry about that.

@mrantimatter: Maybe it was a result of the dubbing not ringing in as having true emotion to me, or maybe it's just an over-used trope, but as the initial storyline for Hope was unfolding I was able to easily and directly connect the dots

@thepenguin55: The reality of the situation is that at the time of it's release the PS3 represented an extraordinary amount of computational power at a great value relative to a number of alternatives. Game hardware is often sold by the manufacturer at little profit or even at a loss, because they expect to more than

That thing is not exactly bite-sized, quite a feat to get the whole thing down.

This was a failure. I'm making a note here, big facepalm. It's hard to overstate my disappointment.

I love this juxtaposed with this:

@Shinta: I expected a Patrick Stewart nomination for his work with Lords of Shadow. I felt it was well done.

@Ei8HTb1t: What it comes down to in the extreme of your example is would I rather sell 2 million apples at $59.40 each or zero apples at $60? Because an imaginary scenario exists where 2 million are sold at $60 does not entitle the producer to that outcome. Business doesn't work that way. You are proposing that

Since I'm a a baddie I just finished Uncharted, going to start in on Uncharted 2.

@I'm leaving a: And here I thought you had fixed the poison slime pipes. Faith restoration is good too though!

@Shmraggon: I hope some one caught the New Vegas reference... I thought it was clever at any rate.

It's all in how you define "worked". Here it seems pretty clear he's leaning more towards "made buckets and buckets of cash" as the meaning of "worked".

As a proud moonkin I was hoping more for a miniature menace as opposed to dripping cuteness with a side of wtf why are your eyeballs popping out of the sockets. Still if they have some nice animations, maybe mock-casting of a spell or two, I might get it.

@TonyRockyHorror: Sounds like we just need to keep printing tons more real-world money to keep up! Oh wait... we have the Federal Reserve for that already =/

I suppose I should finish the 2nd one before this comes out. I can't not spend hours doing all the side quests in every new area though =/

@jungletoad: I think a big part of the issue is the publishers want DRM, and the customers want that DRM to not be overbearing and needlessly complex. That the other digital distributors and brick and mortar stores end up getting shafted by this is unfortunate, but when the industry is clearly changing it's dynamic

@Baboonski: In the case of AoC I would say they had a very strong first impression. The island that you started on was beautifully done, the story was involved, almost all the characters had full voicing, and the split of time where different events would occur during the day and at night was engaging.

Played through one path to the end (NCR) and looking forward to exploring the other endings. I found Odo (can't miss him really) and Worf but I didn't find Wesley Crusher yet. I love playing spot the Star Trek voice actor =)
