@emag: 7 had two optional characters you could choose to have join you or not, 3/6 had even more optional characters and if you chose to you could get a couple of them killed off. 8 had back story elements that you wouldn't otherwise find without choosing to get 100% complete on that card game (which was crazy

@MrGOH: I don't know about you but I tried taking on some deathclaws at the quarry around level 10ish. Those things certainly qualify as beastly damage sponges. That and they will lay you out in a few hits at best and one hit at worst. The only way I could kill them was one at a time by abusing the AI pathing and

@Thut: On the "Inconvenient Apocalypse" point I agree 100%. I had FO3 on PS3 and so for some reason the controls didn't bother me much, but I have NV on PC and I find myself constantly hitting M hoping a map will come up only to mutter in dissatisfaction when nothing happens.

I'm playing on PC with the most recent patches applied (Steam is great about this) and the game play so far seems pretty solid. I will say I tend to save very often out of habit since I have a tendency to get brutalized quickly when I do silly things like follow my urge to throw dynamite into a crowd of people and I

@derek.goeckeritz: I have one of the physical authenticator fobs, the code lasts for about 30 seconds. The authenticator "hack" was something brought to attention by Blizzard, so it is indeed real, but to expose yourself to it generally means you have to be compromised by some of the various other methods (virus,

@Mommar: Someone pointed out to me in another thread that for the highest completion rating - 110%, levels and trials have to be completed on the hardest difficulty which isn't' available until you beat the game. Even more reason to skip the stage trials entirely on the first playthrough!

@Nick Edge: Supposedly Cataclysm will mark a return to "teh hardcorez" in that not everything will be massive AoE pulls of mobs, with crowd control spells becoming necessary again. I can't really gauge how true this is though, I recently tanked through Blackrock Caverns (one of the new 5 man instances) and while

If you have completionist tendencies like myself, my best advice to enjoy this game to it's fullest is to do your best to -avoid- doing the stage trials. While some are interesting tests that involve doing a task well (for instance the very first stage trial, where you don't allow the villagers assisting you in the

Played a couple chapters so far, I can say by far my least favorite feature is the stage trials. The trials don't show up until you complete the stage once, meaning if you're a completionist you'll be playing through each stage twice rather than moving on. To me this really breaks the immersion in the story.

@Falkun: In my own experience I ran into issues with the PS3 controller itself (ie the buttons/sticks becoming less responsive) before running into issues with the battery not holding a charge, and that was after using the same controller fairly frequently for a few years. Also you don't have to be a huge tech

Does anyone have the complete lowdown on what this will mean for Sony as far as U.S. sales regulation? I remember reading offhand that Sony included the OtherOS functionality because it allowed them to brand the device a personal computer rather than an entertainment console, which had some ramifications regarding

@MrPerson: "Does your horse get attacked a lot?" "It.. it can... I don't get the impression it has any game effect." "Oh..." "I don't think it actually protects your horse." "Oh. It just looks different??"
