It was a very very specific case - we had to go back to the judge twice because no one would believe that the law as defined was so weird. I doubt it would come up that often.

It’s not that they voted for him *because* of it, it’s that the ability to get pissy about it gave them the internal rationale for why they aren’t bad people... they would have found another excuse regardless, so it’s sort of a moot point.

She’s not wrong though. A lot of his support is from whiny assholes who don’t like that people call him out on his bullshit. (The poor oppressed WASPs of middle America who don’t really pay that much attention.) The problem is there’s not really a good solution because not calling him out is equally harmful.

It’s so frustrating. Especially when I know that pointing out how fucking wrong he is just makes his cult love him more. Not to mention those who aren’t completely worthless human who would be offended by his statements but aren’t paying attention because the NFL/College Basketball is on TV.
