I was mostly in the same boat, though I think I was drifting away from SL even before mesh. No other game since then has been as much of a creative outlet - I enjoy Minecraft and get a little creative with it, but cubes don’t compare to twisting a torus just so...

Craft brewing is very much the opposite of a zero sum game. No style has to “win” or appeal to everyone.

Wow, I’m not sure your world is one where I would want to go on living.

I was under the impression actually linking to a game on Steam in an article about a Steam game was punishable by being cheetoh-dusted and paper-clipped, and run out of the office on a whiteboard.

aaaand I indirectly ungrayed him >_<

Your handle and the song to which it refers are a bit on the nose. You may want to recuse yourself from this discussion.

His chicken has come home to roost.

I’m glad I’m gray on this site so I can point out that you’re full of shit, sour shit which has clearly filled you right to your fingertips, where it is spilling out onto your keys. Her longstanding working relationship with CK is clear, and clearly laid out in the article. The statement was released via their mutual

I have several of them unplayed or little played in my Steam library, and only Overwatch would have made my list. Granted, I would never claim to have my finger on the pulse of the mainstream.

For the love of all that goes beep-boop, publish these things as a new fucking post or publish them somewhere other than Kinja.

For the average Joe? No, every man, woman and child does not need a drone. For photography or video enthusiasts (super common hobby), I should hope it’s obvious. They let every YouTuber and camera-dad get ‘copter shots, and let you get all kinds of angles on outdoor/nature shots that you couldn’t get any other way.

The same is true of pretty much any game where player interactions matter on more than a match-by-match basis. I hate to cite South Park, but “How do you kill that which has no life?” You’ve got people going at it like a part-time job, and then you have people going at it like they’re running a business, 60+ hours per

The issue isn’t that it’s a “left-wing” outlet (which would be a communist or anarchist publication, btw - the actual left wing exists, but is rarely seen or heard from in this country). The issue is that it’s a non-0utlet. At this point, very likely more people have read the lawyer’s letter than read the original

For the first time in my life last week, I heard a co-worker use “weary” in place of “wary” in speech, on two separate occasions. The world made more sense when I thought it was just a spelling error.

You left out my two favorites. I would of been more weary of the encyclopedic approach, if I were you.

Another factor in the weirding of language is that people deliberately choose the odder word, the off word, or use words directly contrary to their meaning to enliven their speech and writing. Language is not only shaped by the work it does, but also by how it’s used in play.

It’s a stretch to say “literally” now means “figuratively.” It’s used for non-specific emphasis with no regard to its meaning, with the result that it is often used to set off metaphors. It doesn’t mean “figuratively” in that instance, though - it doesn’t mean anything.

Rimworld is actually retiring the name-in-game/pirate king DLC sometime soon. Maybe today (November 1st), or maybe on the release of A18 (currently in preview), IDR.

At my gym, the old black dudes seem almost as likely as the old white dudes to join the Let’s Hang Out Naked club. Also, just as likely to strike up a conversation while one or both of us are naked, which in my case is only going to, coming from, or currently in the shower.

Cosplayers and such are at least doing something cohesive. I’m looking at those low-riding cargo pants with pocket-bungee and taxi-cab belt, 1/3 of a haircut... a lot of bad fashion choices pulling in different directions, there.
