Edit: That parenthetical sentence in the middle of the 1st paragraph of the diatribe above should be “I’m not referring to anyone who’s reading this on an enthusiast website”

If that statement were true, the dominant species in the new car market would be the minivan. It is, beyond doubt, the most practical passenger vehicle type (overall) that has ever been conceived.

The ancient Ford will still be around in 40 years if someone maintains it, the same as the 2018 Escape. If something is that old and still functions, it’s because someone took the time to preserve it, care for it, and probably poured a lot more money than it was ever worth into it. I was at a car show a couple of

Neutral: Most people who own cars do not love cars. This is apparent by looking at what people drive (mostly silver crossovers and underutilized pickup trucks), how those vehicles are maintained (“It’s been making that noise for months, but I’ve just been turning the radio up.”) and how they are driven (badly, in case

You’ve pretty much spelled it all out here. I have to wonder if Ford and GM were just expecting everyone currently in a sedan lease to be wooed into crossover ownership by their early turn-in programs. Meanwhile, the people who’ve been driving Honda and Toyota cars for the last decade wouldn’t even consider setting

Also, where are you getting 700 miles? based on this screen capture from the 2021 Tahoe website, it’s not possible. Even in the extremely hypothetical scenario of 100% highway miles on a tank, multiplying the highway MPG by the fuel capacity gives us a total of 572 miles.

Not really. Detroit’s automakers never had any interest in building and selling small cars. That’s why the vast majority of those cars have, historically, been garbage. Designed and built by people who seemed to have nothing but contempt for the eventual owners, they only sold due to lack of competition, patriotism,

The average buyer is educated but knows nothing about cars and can’t be bothered to learn, so they went to the dealership and said “I’d like to lease about 15 feet of car, for under $200/mo” and drove out in a new Cruze.

I wonder how many Karens will demand to speak to a manager when GM refuses to cover “refueled with gasoline instead of diesel” under warranty. Because that’s what happens when you put a diesel in a vehicle for soccer moms.

Range per tank is meaningless. If my car could hold 50 gallons of fuel like one of these pigs, it would probably have a 1200 mile range between fuel stops.

It’s the sort of thing everyone says they want, but that’s because they only retained their fake memories of that “pure” driving experience they had in their first car, and have forgotten all of the drawbacks.

Basically, this country is filled with a bunch of simple-minded, self-important twats, for whom not using a phone for a few minutes is an intolerable inconvenience. Why pay attention to what you’re doing, when you could be talking, texting, or making a snapchat video that shows what song you’re listening to on your

I agree, but from a business standpoint it makes sense to have a wide variety of crossovers in the lineup, so that the basic people who buy them are given the illusion of choice and the idea that they too can drive a special car, even though they’re going to drive off the lot in yet another tall silver wagon.

There’s also a crossover in between Kicks and Rogue, called Rogue Sport. Having a crossover at every possible price point is probably the only thing that’s going to keep Nissan from imploding for the next 5-odd years, while all the new and improved models are being developed.

Most of those titles are read primarily by old people who don’t understand how the internet works. Well, I guess some of them do, but if they ever decide to publish in .pdf form only, they’re doomed.

But then I’d have to park my other car outside, which I’m not willing to do.

I’m having a difficult time not buying this car right now. The only thing saving my Xmas budget is my garage, which isn’t heated and doesn’t have space for 2 cars, so sitting in there all night staring at the engine isn’t going to be as much fun when I’m not driving it.

FIA fined Ferrari $50,000, no time penalty for Leclerc. A fair penalty, since it’s not his job to refuel the car and/or file reports.

Did they make a different sort of C4?
