Pro-Tip from a fairly new parent; kids do not take a lot of time, they take all of it.

I find I can get a feel of the company I'm applying for from one question:

"So...why are you hiring?"

I'm about 4 hours in and it's EPIC. Far and away my favorite game of the year.

Okay fellow upper middle class white (and other ethnicity) people, I'm going to explain how not to feel like you're poor. You aren't poor, after all, so there is actually a way to avoid it for you.

I've been doing this lately and suffering for it. But late at night, when the rest of the family goes to bed, it feels like a luxury or a sacred time when I have quiet and space to myself. I guess I could go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier, but that's just crazy talk.

Okay, I've been on the other side of this one. I'm a dude, and a clean freak. But I would argue it wasn't thoughtlessness (or even gender related) so much as it was not my priority at the time. A party's for fun. It doesn't mean I haven't thought of the dishes, I just don't want to do them until later.
