It’s been really dry in Florida the past few months. If they’re parking cars in a grass field, it wouldn’t take much for a brush fire to crop up...and, with all those cars sitting with at least 1/4 of a tank of fuel...kaboom.

That’s not true. The fact that the pilot’s rear vision is blocked, the single engine and the bulky frame is because of the VTOL requirement. It has been sighted as the most common compromise of the design, by the military and manufacturer themselves.
Are you serious? That’s about the dumbest statement I’ve heard anyone make about the F-35, and there’s a LOT of dumb statements out there.
