Damn, LSU is good. The scary part is that so many of those guys are coming back next year.

It's amusing for sure. If LSU had lost 2 games and fallen out of the national title hunt, Alabama would be #1 and no one would have any issue with them playing in the national title game with their one loss. If Alabama had lost to a top-3 opponent at home by a FG in OT who happened to be non-conference, nobody would

"I'm going to express rage at the BCS system instead of at the teams that could have gotten in to the title game but didn't take care of business and lost to lesser opponents in more humiliating fashion!"

Unless you like HOF classes consisting solely of some Negro Leaguer you've never heard of

Basically, she said that it's got great beaches, it's warm year-round, has great sports teams, and that you're close to Busch Gardens, Disney World, and the aquarium. What was really funny is that her speech basically opened with "I know most people in this room hear 'Tampa' and think 'white trash'..."

It's a culture change for sure and UA is certainly no Berkeley, but the department I'm in has been very open and accepting. Tuscaloosa is actually a pretty fun college town, which is something I didn't get to experience as an undergrad. One thing for sure is that all the LGBTQ folk down here stick together like

I'm back at school in Alabama. Currently teaching public speaking, hoping I can get some other classes under my belt before I'm done here. The writing isn't all that sexy; it's just academic stuff on rhetoric, but I've been submitting to conferences and might get one published in the next year or so. It's completely

This is a tough one, but I gotta go with Bono. Bonus points if he's still wearing those stupid fucking glasses.

I used to work in political consulting. Most recently, I was doing campaign finance and ensuring that political committees were within state and federal compliance (read: I spent all day cleaning up the books and making sure the accounts were balanced).

Raysism DUAN,

Congrats to both AJ and Tommy. I told Craggs one time that commenting on this site is what inspired me to quit my career and try my hand at teaching and writing. I only wish that wasn't as pathetic as it sounds.

See I get that, but pro formation sets also produce lots of wins and put up tons of points. Again, if you look at the programs that utilize(d) such systems you'll find more than a fair share of national titles and top rankings. You can even argue that such offenses are much tougher for the top defenses to stop because

Seriously, how does a program that close to one of the biggest high school hotbeds in Chicago and with such a loyal following not manage to get its shit together? Illinois football always struck me as a sleeping giant that nobody's bothered to wake up.

By the way, I was going to ask your thoughts on Zook getting the hook. Any dream candidate to take over at Illinois?

The only thing keeping Young in the league right now is his physical ability and dumbass coaches who still think they can harness it. That won't last long though. On a tangent, I'm surprised that so many colleges still use the shotgun spread formation and "throw it to the open dude and if you can't, fuck it just run"

Why do you think I had that asterisk? I'm not bigoted against boxes of rocks at all, I swear!

VY is a classic case of a guy who used his physical talents to compensate for bad mechanics and an inability to operate a complex offense while in college. It also doesn't help that he's dumb as a box of rocks* and was a total headcase in Tennessee. He'll be out of the league in a year or two.

True story: earlier this semester a prof made reference to "the gaze" in class while unintentionally gesturing to where I was sitting, quickly realized what he just did and then spent the next ten minutes trying to awkwardly explain it away while the class laughed at him. I love straight liberal guilt.

I'm not sure if that's a Laura Mulvey/Lacan reference or not, but either way +1.

I feel bad for Houston. The AFC is down this year and they have the best O-Line, rushing attack, and one of the best defenses. If there was a time for them to make a legit run for a title it would be this season, and then they go lose Williams and Schaub. I think they'll still make the playoffs but it'll be tough for
