I used to draw all the time and my memory is mostly good, but mainly when it comes to numbers. I did, however, manage to sketch a couple of portraits of friends from memory so I know the images are in there. I just struggle to keep them in the forefront. They slip away in moments and I have to force them to return

I've never been able to purposely picture something in my head for more than an instant at a time. It's really frustrating. I can, however, daydream with vivid images so it would be great if I could use this effect in some way to tap into my daydream ability while not actually daydreaming...or something like that. I

That's pretty cool. Reminds me of how people got the original Bioshock running on video cards that weren't supported at all. It was amazing to see it go from basically showing black textures everywhere to being almost perfect.

I mean the shadow cast onto the bike model. I see the shadow of the handlebars, but his thigh doesn't look like it's casting a shadow on the bike. Even with the angle, I would've expected some ambient occlusion or something (only if we're talking "looks like a photo" levels of quality, which we are).

That's actually the one that looks most fake to me. It's so smooth and clean, and it looks like someone took a "soften" filter to it. Also, the rider doesn't cast a shadow on the bike (I knew something was off with the lighting but only realized it just now). The dunes and smoke are pretty decent, though.

I don't think even one of those looks like a photograph. Not even close. They're all too soft and the textures are too flat (no parallax mapping or tessellation on things?). That said, most of them are still pretty nice shots, with the last one being my favorite.

If Sega doesn't send Cease and Desist orders to the makers of fan-made Sonic games, I doubt they'll do it with an IP they care far less about...but I guess you never know with these companies.

The killing of beasts is something that they don't show a lot of. People focus on the building, but my favourite part of the game was always digging into cave networks and trying to get through them without being slaughtered by things from the shadows.

Well, it certainly looks great but if you can't wall-run or anything, then I'm not sure how you'd even get around in it let alone have fun. Is there a parkour mod for Minecraft yet?

That walking animation really bugs me, with one shoulder forward and one back most of the time. It also look like it throws off the aiming slightly and makes his gun not face exactly the right direction. I'm not a fan of slow-mo kills, either (I liked Max Payne where the player was almost always in control of it). The

Does a substitute teacher insisting that gravity was caused by tiny little fairies count as "fake science"? (Yeah, he got kicked out pretty quickly. That guy was nuts.)

Oh yeah! You're right! I don't know what I was thinking.

I agree. It's not a bad thing in the slightest. My concern is that when they make a movie about it, they'll go and mess with things like that in order to appeal to a wider audience (ie. people who aren't big fans of sci-fi shows/movies).

I'm not saying anything negative about the show. It was great. I'm just worried that they'll completely change the tone/character of it in the transition.

As much as I enjoyed Babylon 5, I avoided it for ages because it looked goofy (particularly the Centauri hairstyles). Only when I was finally talked into watching it years later did I realize how seriously the show takes a lot of things.

Yep, Half-Life 3 will take the physics puzzles of HL2 to the next level with a new, Sierra-made Incredible Machine game. Sounds about right.

If you watch the end (starting at 1:44 or so) then it shows the unedited version of that shot. I guess they realized the slow-mo weirdness would've had people questioning the video's authenticity.

Exactly. It's not even that it's vague. They may not say "This is the original Colin McRae Rally game" but if they call it "Colin McRae Rally - The Classic Rally Experience" that's essentially the same thing. As I understand it, this isn't the classic experience at all but something very different.

Now I'm just curious how deep the blue light generally gets.

DtS is similar to Hitman, yeah, but I prefer the way they handle disguises. If I remember right, only people who outrank you will notice that you don't belong. The trick was to actually get those disguises, whereas in Hitman the trick is to keep them while nearby people stare at you like you're a freak.
