I've replayed a lot of games I loved as a kid and I think I only found one that I didn't really like much anymore. Sometimes I even appreciate them more as an adult/programmer, because I can see the intelligence in how certain aspects were designed or appreciate the difficulty of developing certain things.

I didn't mind sonar goggles that much in Conviction, but in that game there were some walls you couldn't "see" through and the image got all fuzzy when you moved quickly. That limited how much you could rely on them, which was great.

And all I can think is "Wow. He never looks where he's driving, does he..."

For some really strange reason, this reminds me of the game Damnation. The stance and build of the guy in the cutscene screenshot remind me most of that game, but even something about the textures is familiar. Weird.

I didn't mind WW's graphics much on their own. Compared to the amazing teaser images that came first, though, I was pretty disappointed. I really, really wanted that more realistic-looking Zelda game and we still haven't quite gotten it.

Yeah. M-Tron and Blacktron had the greatest vehicles. Really amazing stuff. I always wanted the huge, six-wheeled M-Tron tank thing but never got it for Christmas no matter how much I asked. Too expensive, I guess.

Considering each screen shows a slightly different view of the scene, it seems you focus just like you would in real life. From what I've seen/read, that doesn't change with glasses. I haven't tried it, though, and I don't wear glasses. I'm just going by what I've seen from various sources.

I never knew CD Projekt Red owned GOG.com. Cool. Now I like them even more. Not only do they try to make their own games as DRM-free as possible, but they give me the opportunity to get hundreds of other games DRM-free as well. Nice.

It's not just you, but a lot of the people that had that feeling when Thief 4 was announced felt the good feelings fade when they read/saw what the new game was actually going to be like. I've been waiting for a continuation of the series too, but this doesn't really look like one so far.

I'm gonna miss that. Last I heard, they were going to be using real-life swear words.

Same here. If find that "special" versions of things are often like that.

Good question. The linked document says the purchased the software titles "Freespace" and "Freespace 2"...but as you said, the first was called "Descent: Freespace". I would've thought that official court documents would be more accurate.

Yeah. Same here, although I guess I really should've seen Arya finding them there as a sign that something was going to go very wrong.

I'm not sure why you linked to that video, but it was really good. Thanks.

I've done that before with other sites, but you just delete the cookie and you're good to go. It's a bit stupid for them to use a cookie, though, considering you could have multiple people of different ages using that computer/browser.

I've long been paranoid that a site would do that to me, but I thought I was just being crazy. I've never actually had one do it. I guess I was right to be careful, after all.

Oh yeah. I'm sure you'll be able to cause chaos in the city. I'm just not sure how that sort of player would get much enjoyment out of huge rural/wilderness section of the map.

Yeah. There's a fine line there. For example, Just Cause 2 has a huge world and you're tripping over settlements constantly, but I don't find any of it that fun or exciting. It's all the same, presumably because they didn't want to spend time thinking of a couple hundred different mission types.

I guess the big question is, do most people play GTA for the missions or the random chaos? I generally play it for the missions, so even if they don't feel like those in earlier titles, I'll probably still get some enjoyment out of them. People who play for the random chaos, though, might not have as much to look

Note that I said "likely". I have yet to see an open-world game where the spaces between settlements were much more than...spaces between settlements. Maybe this one will be different, but I have a hard time imagining missions set in rural or wilderness areas feeling much like GTA. Naturally, we'll have to wait to
