I’ve been thinking of this for years! My idea was basically the same as the auto-darkening LCD posited above.

Did 30ish hours each way from Wisconsin to Oregon last year. Podcasts and a small amount of insanity. I also did Wisconsin to New Hampshire last year, that wasn’t as bad and was mostly passed with music and musings.

I haven’t bought one but I have sold one! 95' Buick LeSabre. The thing was a bit rusty but @220k always fired right up, and once it actually started on fire.

They had the right rack, picked it up this morning and it has the port!

I’ll definitely keep them in mind! I really hope I never have to replace another rack.

Another follow up to this, it sounds like they do have one with the sensor port (26507) and the price is nearly the same as the Cardone reman. I’ll find out Monday rather than wait till Thursday for the Cardone reman. Thanks again!

Followed up on this! I found their number via Google, called them up and was told they don’t sell directly (usually) but are carried at Autovalue or Bumper-to-Bumper. Luckily there is a store nearby and they can have one in Monday.

I’m battling this right now! I need to replace the steering rack of my Mazda3 but a new OEM rack will be at least $700, which I can’t afford. Reconditioned racks can be had for $150-$300, but I’ve already sent 2 “reconditioned” units back to sellers because they didn’t seem to do anything other than spray paint the

Hell yes! I was just discussing how much I missed crash mode (and Burnout in general really) with a friend two nights ago, thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Swapping the old broken steering rack out of my Mazda3. Not because it’s hard to find a decent one, or because it’s expensive when you can find a decent one, or because it’s a 4 hours job if done right and I didn’t do it right so I spent more like 12 hours working on it over three days and still haven’t even gotten a

You can find some buyers listing them at “$110 or offer” which is what I did. Offered $100 and got a brand new Charge 2.

I’m with you on these, absolutely incredibly beautiful. I’ve seen maybe 3 on the road and a local import place has one sitting in their showroom. I’ve stopped a few times to oggle it and the FD is on my “must own” list.

I’ve gone done the rebuild road with a 92 Laser. I’ve got about 7k into it and it’s still sitting there, mocking me.

Thanks for the break down on this! I’ve always wanted an RX-8 but never wanted to pony up the cash and then have all the ongoing costs. I’ve already got 2 expensive/unreliable cars and I’d be making the RX-8 my DD. Nice to have a view of the good & bad parts of the experience.

I actually was aware of this one because I considered it as a replacement for the I6 in my old 250. The current I6 is proving hard to kill though and with how competitively priced a 5.3 is the LL8 kind of fell off my radar.

I was considering doing a whole car dip recently. I haven’t done much research but is there a reason you’d recommend wrap over dip? Or wrap over a traditional paint job for that matter?

If they hadn’t included the “don’t plan to drive it home” part I’d be trying to justify daily driving this. Then again, that sounds like a challenge...

This is really cool insight into the game, thanks!

My brother and I once set a friend on fire. A minor fire yes, but fun to watch and he asked for it.

This is how my $1500 1st Gen Talon turned into a $7000 art piece. The entire engine got rebuilt and then I went down the rabbit hole on every other piece of the car and ended up replacing or upgrading just about everything. I’ve gotten it to the point where it runs but isn’t drive-able yet.
