Zendaya is genuinely talented. Bella Thorne was a cute kid who probably should have given up acting and gone back to school.

Probably just making bank without any real long term goals. She may just kind of hate what she does and is trying to put enough money away to be able to walk away from this.

Honestly, I think I’d be happy either way. If it’s a fake out then kudos for having the balls to pull that off. If it’s not, then kudos for doing something new for the MK mythos. As long as the movie ends up good, it’s a win-win for me.

Was about to post this exact thing above to original post but decided to see if anyone else had the same thought process. I'm glad I'm not alone in noticing this very obvious (and somewhat useful) trope.

Well said. I’ve become a CGM fan recently so I’ll watch whatever is on starring her or on streaming and it’s all over the place. Believe it or not, Shadow in the Cloud is an amazing showcase of her acting and presence. Which highlights the randomness of the roles she takes. :D

Her career path is obvious to me: it’s going down. This may be a higher profile film, but it is likely not a very good one. Those other higher profile films you mention (Carrie, Kickass) are all over 7 years old at this point. Her star power is fading if it has not already faded away.

Rap careers have been entirely built on putting out dis tracks. But then again, those people generally have a little bit of talent.

I feel relief. I know there are good-willed folks out there who don’t like dancing to someone’s death. So I say relief. Relief that this man had retreated away from his punditry ever since he experienced lung cancer, which was a public good. One less malevolent individual fighting for the cause.
