Not really, modern cooling systems are designed to take advantage of boiling, you want the water/coolant mix near boiling point. Phase change is an awesome way to absorb energy.

Yup, except this isn’t true for my 2012 S60. My coworker just bought himself a 2013, and we’ve compared the manuals for both--mine allows regular unleaded, while his does not. I’m sure his car is faster than mine, but I went from a dinky Pontiac to an imported turbo, so I’m happy with it.
A coworker and I were comparing our new (used) Volvos, and I’m more than a little glad that I wound up with a 2012, compared to his 2013. They adjusted the engine between model years, and while my car’s manual says that I can use regular unleaded gas, his requires mid-grade or higher. So, I guess the Swedes are the…
Being trapped in Phoenix sounds like a nightmare even when it’s not 120 fucking degrees.
Was there any real advantage to having a fucking hole in your bodywork?
I’d have to agree. I love listening to the 919 whir its was around a track like a jet, and I’ve never been woo’d by any of Toyota’s attempts to take the win in this race, so I’ve been in Porsche’s camp for a few years.
The TV feed is controlled by the ACO and FIA camera team. The WEC feed as well as Eurosport, Fox, and other TV presentations throughout the world receive the same video feed.
Man, Eurosport and sports journalism in general sucks so bad these days. They are so busy catching meaningless reaction faces in the box and pointless interviews that they are missing half the action on track. Really, who the fuck needs to see faces of dispair in the Toyota box 20 times as their car breaks yet again?…
Fair and balanced take.
The Aston may have won the race, but the Chevrolet Covfefe won the electoral college.
They weren’t the ones who blew Arnage...
This race was further proof that the prototypes are rubbish to watch. The GT classes will forever be the best part.
I agree with your assessment; it was what the announcers on Fox surmised happened as well. One could almost say that the Aston forcing it’s way back onto the track after blowing the pass was the direct result of the flat; if it had held back and just understood it lost its place, the Corvette would have won.
I’m afarid I’m going to have to disagree with your assesment, the contact earlier in that lap I thing dameged his tire causing him to go off track in the chicane. Either way though it was awsome final lap racing for the lead in a 24 hour race.
Absolutely gutted for Jordan Taylor and Corvette Racing. Jordan was killing it closing out the race and then the tire just went after the contact with the Aston. Such a sad ending to the race for him.
To speak about LMP1, F1, and IndyCar this year: Apparently Japanese reliability has a speed limit.
Wait til Mondays post
Being stuck in limp mode is why they all bought Corvettes in the first place.
I’ve raced a few people with new Z06's and ALL of them have had this issue.
