Not sure where you’re running but that’s not the case in Northern California where I run. I run in open groups in my Miata that’s closer to a street car than a track car.

Depends on situation, just need to gauge it...if this guy is wanting to go faster than she was going to then she’d pull over. If she think she’d be going faster then him once the bike is gone, keep going.
That’s in novice/low-intermediate groups. Advanced run-groups typically have open passing everywhere.
Miata was an idiot but the bike should’ve found a turnout and yielded if they were stuck back there for awhile.
How to be an asshole on a curvy driving road: not pull over into turnouts for faster traffic. Obviously Miata should not have made the pass but we don’t know how long he was stuck behind these guys and may have gotten frustrated. Again, DONT make the pass in that situation. BUT, the Motorcycle should’ve pulled over…
Braking there for that corner.
This is why you go with longitudinal engined Mazdas...you might say they’re...always the answer?
Flat-4s do save space ahead/behind in longitudinal layouts, though. Which is good for squeezing them into middle/rear of cars (Porsche) or fitting intercoolers/rads etc in front. Also...3D printed engine models. SO COOL.
Doesn’t matter how much you brace yourself, your body will be just as lifeless when it’s over. Wear your fucking seat belt.
Nice. The V50 with a stick is unicorn enough in the states...much less the dream R-design AWD stick which they must have made like 4 of. One other thing about the AWD ones is that they also ride a lot higher which compromises the handling fairly well even if you lower it.
No, it isn’t. Weight transfer works the same way. It is completely independent of drive type.
You’re absolutely right that I’m speaking generally and about physics, not about specific vehicles. Obviously a GTI is going to do things differently than a Tacoma and be better at cornering and putting power down, despite the FWD/RWD difference. I’m doing the “all other things being equal” physics logic here.
First lets talk about generally how things work in a corner and then address your specific points. When you enter a corner on the throttle, easing off the throttle will allow the car to rotate and tighten its line “oversteer” and squeezing on the throttle will cause the car to widen its line “understeer.” This is…
Understeer is indeed caused or prevented by the driver...typically. I had a moment while tracking my Miata when I realized that all the understeer was finally gone from the car. I wracked my brain thinking about what I must’ve changed on the car to make this happen...and then I realized I hadn’t modified anything…
RWD’s main advantage is its more happy to rotate on initial turn in. Well, ok, maybe not, but that is an advantage of many RWD sports cars...probably honestly not really a RWD thing just a property of many of those vehicles. The main thing is that you can put the power down earlier in the corner while the front…
Yeah the newer Volvos have great interiors. My mom and my aunt both have current-gen S60s (pre and post facelift respectively.) I’m liking this car so far despite some issues I’ve had with it (pretty high mileage.) If I can go at least 6 months (hopefully 9 or more) before the next major maintenance clusterfuck…
Definietly that time I was on the track in my Miata and hit a (just added, later painted orange) berm, next to a berm you’re meant to hit...and my back top went up...and came back down...onto my glass window...and exploded it everywhere. Pulled the seats out, borrowed a shopvac, taped up the window, and made it back…
I was in the market for something quick and wagon-y and mid-2000s as a daily and recently ended up getting a V50 (T5 manual). I like the interior, which is the same as the one shown here as you say. But it makes MUCH more sense in an ‘05 than in a ‘13. When I compare it to other things I was looking at from same…
Are you kidding me? The latest Volvos have the nicest interiors this side of really upmarket stuff.
