I see the F30 more like a 5 series, and there were plenty of 5s that drove awesome in the past. My issue was the chassis. Bad steering and just weird chassis feel

Interesting that you choose a point well after the discussion started... but yea, I literally said the LS is more efficient than the S54 in my first reply to you.
Neutral- Mercedes still seems special, but I’ve test driven and rented a few BMWs and it seems like they’ve lost their competitive advantage across most of the lineup. The only BMWs I would consider now are the RWD 1/2 series and any of the Z4s. The non-sport package F30s I drove were really bad. The current and last…
You have serious memory and reading comprehension problems. YOU brought up the 135i with the turbo motor, not me. And I did not call the Z4 a brick; I mentioned it because its shape and size is more comparable to the Corvette than the 135i/M3.
Again you’re comparing a bar of soap to a brick (and moving the goal posts yet again). The newer Z4 with the turbo 6 gets better gas mileage than a same year Corvette with either transmission.
Expired inspection = a tow? My beloved city slips further and further into a draconian hellhole.
Not sure what S54 you are referring to. I was referring to the S54 in the E46 M3/E85 Z4M, which is naturally aspirated. The rest of your post kind of doesn’t make sense so I’ll just leave it
Flat torque curves don’t equate to more useful power, round ones do- at least for a given peak HP. It’s all about area under the curve, and a round mound is going to have more area under it than a flat line (again for a given peak HP number).
Just doesn’t make sense to me to compare the fuel economy of a 2 seat sports car to a 5 seat sedan/coupe. That said the Corvette washes the S54 Z4M on every metric but revs so the point still stands.
The same reason people buy $80K 4 cylinder German cars. There’s more to a car than its engine’s provenance.
The efficiency has more to do with the Corvette’s long gearing, tiny frontal area and great aerodynamics. In similarly sized cars (i.e. the GTO) the difference is much smaller.
These feel about $5-10K more expensive than their competition, so while the markups are egregious they’re not unreasonable. People are paying them, even with the shitty dealership experience.
3rd- another EV realist.
For all this trouble I’m wondering if the mondo I6 out of Trailblazers would work. When you factor in the cost and hassle of sourcing a Barra it might be a net wash. Plus I imagine the TB I6 bolts up to all the available GM transmissions whereas the Barra might be a bit of a mystery
What’s your point/goal in this exchange? If you’re hoping to win me over to gen onboard the car industry FUD train we might as well exchange pleasnatries and go our separate ways. You’re so far off my initial point that it’s not even worth continuing. New cars are not the only cars available for people to buy and new…
If you can’t afford a payment it’s all going to shit in the end anyway. Most people can so your complaint is mostly irrelevant.
The internet: Where are all the real man old school sports cars?
3rd/4th gear: reality vs green washing regulator pandering fantasy.
So you get GAAP insurance.
