Today’s race was one for the ages
Nobody cared about midsize sedans until it became apparent they were going away. And why would we? The majority of them are just not driver’s cars. That duty is much better served by the compact class. To wit, off the top of my head, here are the performance offerings in that space:
I love my G37 but it gets truly abysmal gas mileage. Just appalling. ~19MPG combined is a good tank. Also to be fair my G is on coilovers and 255 width tires all around. Other than that and some K&N filters it’s otherwise stock.
I have been playing with this program called CarTest for probably over a decade now. It is a decent simulator of car performance, mainly in a straight line (though it does have a lap time simulator lmao).
I am in love with this thing bros. Can’t believe it’s mines! I have to recondition the paint though. It’s in very bad shape.
I just did some karting for my birthday, and I have to say.... I’m kinda hooked. I’ve done track days in cars and on motorcycles, and probably log about 100-200 hours a year sim racing. But I’m feeling like karting is going to be my drug of choice for my automotive kicks.
So I got new wheels for the G, which you can see below:
Dropped my G37S on Tein Coilovers.... quite dramatic.
Well, just as sure as the sun rose today, Flyin Miata cracked the LSx swap cheat code for the new ND chassis in their typically excellent and meticulous fashion, bestowing it with a tire immolating 525 hp.
I have argued in the past that we are in a golden age of manual transmissions. Cars like the GTI, Mustang, Z, Civic Si etc have never been better. But that is all an illusion for anyone who doesn’t want 2 doors, or 4 cylinders.
RCR’s vid on that Suzuki Alto had me intrigued. 10K redline? Let’s investigato!
Seems like we are having a “watercooled” moment again. I have the cash for a 996 too.........
I have been riding my bike to work a lot lately and I notice I only use the brakes when I am basically coming to a stop. I mainly slow down via drag or engine braking.
I don’t like how cheeky and playful the ND is. It’s competent, it’s fast, it’s precise.... but it’s still too...
Did you know about this?
One of the popular memes here is "saving the manuals". "They gotta save the manuals brah. Why don't they make manual 4 banger Camrys anymore?" Let me tell you something. Some manuals are not worth saving.
Car fan kids today would definitely not know it looking at today's lineups, but once upon a time manufacturers like Honda, Toyota and Mitsubishi went on an automotive coke binge that would make the late Rick James say 'yo maybe u should put down the pipe player'. Fueled by the manic stock bubble of the 80s, Japanese…
My Z is clean and for the most part, stock. But folks who actually buy Zs tend to be a special breed, and based on my brief time on a Z forum I'm not sure that's a good thing. Plus I know myself... and I would hate to let me test drive my car, if that makes sense. Only problem is it's got way high miles and a…
