I’m confused about this whole Oscars thing. Why are only black people the ones missing out here. I don’t see that many Oscars for ANY minorities.

Agreed, but some backwards ass places (which religion is mostly irrelevant) do more backwards ass things than others. Women are treated poorly in a lot of fundamentalist Muslim societies and also in fundamentalist Christian/ extreme right wing societies.

Except on one side of the coin you are much more likely to be raped and killed.

But that has been true since the dawn of history, and the trend in rapes is going down. So it’s silly to ignore any spike in rape or sexual assault just because “it’s men duhhh” because you are ignoring an anomaly that could be prevented in the future.

So there can be no analysis of a spike in rape or sexual assault while the broader year over year trend continues to go down? We should just ignore that because obviously it’s just rape culture?

It is also important to point out that year over year all those stats are improving significantly and have been for decades. So while broadly it is a an issue specific to men, you can’t simply blame a spike in rapes or assaults on “men” since otherwise those prevailing trends would not exist.

Well the Empire do get AT-STs in this level and the Rebels don’t get an equivalent, so that provides some counter.

So were the faculty supposed to cry and lose control of their bodies in response? It is entirely unclear what kind of response would have made the students happy in that situation, and I would rather the faculty take it seriously and think of ways to fix the problems rather than just have a big cry together.
