Meeting up with friends who are nearby that you didn't know were nearby, meeting new people through apps like Sonar and Highlight, getting money off your purchases with as little effort as pressing a button, keeping track of how you travel and finding it fascinating to see your patterns of behavior.

Your comment is flawed because for some reason you think people check-in just to be cool.

Should != Owe. Politeness != Obligation.

Seriously. My ex-girlfriend would shove her face fully into my armpits to get a whiff and would react like it was some kind of heroin/aphrodisiac mix.

I have to be the one to say it, get used to it.

It's pretty obvious watching The Social Network how much Sorkin hates the new generation.

Where do I say anything about expecting anything from them, that they owe me anything, or that they exist for my viewing pleasure?

Israel should give Palestinians reasons not to support Hamas and other terrorist groups.

I live in a huge city and I prefer not to ignore everyone. I get and give hellos to and from men and women with no intention of flirtation.

I do, as do the other friendly and polite people I know.

Actually I have said hello to people I don't find attractive many times.

Because it would be nice to live in a society where men weren't treated like perps and women weren't treated like sex objects.

Then why do all my friends who are girls WANT guys to talk to them on the street? Hell, everyone I know wishes the people they catch eyes with on the street would actually talk to them.

I never said you owed him something, I said you should have said "hello" back because it is polite.

So we aren't supposed to say hi to people now? Since when did this happen?

What does it say about culture?

You should have just said hello back. Who responds to a friendly hello with just a nod?

Thank you for proving my point.

Where do I make the case that users care about the number? I just said that having two numbers would be more confusing and would not be in Apple's style at all. Really this is just the semantics of what to name an update.
