Not an ignorant customer here and AirPlay beats out anything anyone else is offering. Try getting someone who isn't a geek to set up DLNA (After you explain to them what the hell it is).
My point being that Apple is unique in how much people obsess over the design. It isn't something they should feel obligated to constantly change considering the designs and lack of change in other companies.

I guess I worded that a bit wrong. Everyone makes assumptions about people based on how they look, you do it subconsciously. My point is simply that you can take advantage of that to coax people into making assumptions that play in your favor, or are simply how you want people to see you.
NY is incredibly diverse and accepting in fashion and just about everything else. Success doesn't always look like a suit and tie.
