Well considering my iPhone is my remote for the Apple TV (I prefer it to the standalone remote since you get a keyboard on the iPhone) it doesn't make a big difference to me. I usually have my iPhone out while watching something anyway.

Agreed, but it is an effective buzz word. Many companies come up with a thousand buzz words, but no one remembers them because they are not simple or clear in their name and what they mean (car companies are the worst at this).

Because "better" has nothing to do with specs, and it amazes me that people still don't get this.

The vast majority of consumers (we are talking over 95%) won't ever need that level of functionality. The vast majority of consumers won't even know what you mean by "compile" or "emulator".

I mean "Retina Display" is 320 PPI at the distance you hold an iPhone. Not that the PPI changes.

19 Megapixel photos and under. Pretty good for most people's needs. Not gonna handle RAWs out of a Canon 5D though.

I love it. Really hope they push the aesthetic in that direction. Colorful but flat. None of this skeuomorphic BS.

The difference between reading text on old smartphone and tablet displays versus Retina displays is enormous.

I dunno man, I have held a number of tablets, and the 16x9 ones are really awkward. Just about everyone I have talked to about this agrees.

It is determined by PPI and how far you hold the device from your eyes. Smartphones are held closer, therefore require higher PPI to compensate. They explained this in the keynote.

Its 320PPI at the distance you hold an iPhone. Since you hold an iPad further away, you don't require as high a PPI to be considered Retina. In essence Retina means your eye cannot see the pixels.

Actually battery claims by Apple have been holding up pretty well since they redid their battery testing suite.

Gigahertz are not all the same. Remember Pentium and AMD? AMD had lower ghz computers that ran just as well.

It is not gimmicky at all, I use it every day.

And what do you do with that Tegra 3? Specs don't matter when there are superior apps and experiences. I say this as someone who is very geeky and familiar with specs.

Overpriced? It's the same price as the old iPad, and it costs roughly the same as equivalent "competing" tablets out there.

No I didn't. To increase the amount of information you see on the screen, you would have to make the information smaller. While the screen is sharper, smaller information is hard to read for many people. If you want your information more dense, find an app that does so. Apple doesn't want to force every developer to

That would make it very difficult for developers to make consistent UIs without any improper overlays or readable typography.

Roku is more capable as a standalone device, but as soon as you add the thousands of apps you get on an iPhone or iPad the Apple TV immediately becomes more capable. Any media streaming app can be seen through the Apple TV (except HBO Go I believe due to licensing restrictions).

But you don't get display mirroring, or multi-screen gaming on Roku. You can play Angry Birds on ATV, in fact you can play any game you have.
