Looked it up and NASA lists that about 100 tons of dust hits the Earth each day and most of that burns up. Around 500 bigger meteorites of various sizes make it to the ground each year and of those, only about 10 are ever recovered. It’s really rare to be able to see one fall and recover it.
Always a bit trippy when you consider that being 1,100 light-years away from us means this event has already happened and we are just waiting for the video to download.
