The story of the Star Wars sound is pretty interesting. I saw a really old documentary about it once. The people literally just went around everywhere recording anything and everything they could then tweaked it to fit their needs. There is one picture in the linked story without definition. They are standing next to

I bought two Roku Ultras back at Christmas because of all the support dumping on the older units. BIG mistake! The Ultras and several other new units have a bug in them which Roku is either ignoring or just baffled to get a patch for it. The device works for 15 minutes on a channel then freezes up and complains it has

If only you could read tweets from people I actually follow as they happen like the old days instead of trying to emulate FB and show only random promoted shit when it feels like showing you something. You click and change it to back to “tweets show up as they occur” and yet the next time you open the app it’s right

Looked it up and NASA lists that about 100 tons of dust hits the Earth each day and most of that burns up. Around 500 bigger meteorites of various sizes make it to the ground each year and of those, only about 10 are ever recovered. It’s really rare to be able to see one fall and recover it.

Always a bit trippy when you consider that being 1,100 light-years away from us means this event has already happened and we are just waiting for the video to download.

I was thinking the biggest abuse in twitter right now is not my DMs but the fact that they won’t leave my setting alone when I set it it to “Show latest tweets first”

Ford lost a Class Action lawsuit and if you had repairs or replacements you could get reimbursed or sell the car back to Ford. My Titanium Focus was a POS and I sold it back earlier this year.  The details are here:

It should also be noted that Sothebys decribes the tapes but without seeing more than one still frame, these appear to not be the original Raw format Slow-Scan TV (SSTV) recordings but maybe ones that were reformatted for television broadcast. The still frame shown appears a bit dark to me compared to other original

Bummer about the minifigs. I have seen a few custom figs that would have really made this set. Will probably still buy it though because it’s historic Space. https://minifigs.me/collections/space

I had the original PST with leather belt holder. Got it issued to me but they were only $40 at the time. Got it at my first assignment and carried it my entire military career of 20+ years as a phone guy in the AF and it was put in my shadowbox when I retired. I liked it so much I had bought my dad one and he carried

A lot of back country areas do not have cell towers and service. Forget about the ping, it will probably only show when you left the area.  Planning ahead you can get an app like GAIA GPS that you can download maps of an area you are going to travel in. Whether you plan on using the app for hiking or not it only takes

NASA just named the mission to return to the Moon “Artemis”

They are killing the usefulness that twitter was all about in the beginning. Being able to know a quick snip of whats going on right now with someone was what Twitter was based on.  I think slowly Twitter just becomes nothing more than a paid pop up ad site. Wish they would bring back the option to dismiss the ads too

Expensive for a bit of glitter. Why not tear gas dye packs like they use at banks?

The advert clearly states it’s a “canvas bag” and you didn’t get canvas. That’s a clear case of false advertising and an instant lawsuit. What’s with 500 atoms as a payoff to go away? You should get a full refund at the minimum. The temp employee should sue as well if they were canned in the process of this. They

People used to dump things like razor blades in walls for “safety.” The dentist may have just been keeping them out of the garbage cycle of the past. Maybe even had a fancy wall plate like this that read “Teeth.

That was the first thing this reminded me of. They used to handle garbage more in the old days before the plastic bin liners of today. My grandfather would tell me the razor slots let you discard the blades in a “safe” manner that got them away from kids and prevented accidental cuts to others. They later created the

The National Audiovisual Conservation Center, is out in Culpepper VA. It’s a cool place to visit and was once a cold war bunker complex. The place is great for these folk because old film is highly flammable and even a bit unstable. The bunkers rooms offer good protection from fire. The place plays movies in a campus

Ignoring what was in the capsule for a minute. It looked like the capsule was a plastic cooler? Sealed with something that went gooey? Water still got in and damaged the contents. So what should a time capsule be made out of and sealed with? I’ve seen loads of videos of capsules that were buried that have failed. In
